This manual provides students with notes and sample exam questions to expand upon and clarify the more difficult topics covered in the second edition of the Society of Actuaries textbook, Actuarial Mathematics, by Bowers, et al., in Life Contingencies.

It is a significant enhancement to its predecessor, A Guide for the Actuarial Student: Life Contingencies and Ruin Theory. It has been repackaged as a more complete study guide to the Life Contingencies material in Actuarial Mathematics. Professor Batten has expanded the commentary, reflecting student and professor input.

Included within the commentary are 360 completely original exercises and solutions. Also included are solutions to 87 of the Actuarial Mathematics textbook exercises and 4 twenty-question practice tests with solutions.

Professor Batten has developed a logical approach to exam question solutions, which has yielded excellent results for his students. The techniques, which have gained such widespread acceptance in his seminars, are now available in this guide.
